Fireworks explosion costs man both hands

Police in San Jose, California, say a man igniting illegal fireworks blew off both of his hands when the device exploded prematurely.

The man is expected to survive.

The San Jose Mercury News also reports that two other men were seriously injured Friday in Sunnyvale while holding a mortar-like explosive and trying to light it.

One man lost fingers on his left hand and finger tips on the right hand, while the second man lost part of his right hand.
