Execution procedure called a 'failed, agonizing experiment'

Ohio's capital punishment system likely faces new challenges following an unusually long execution.

Convicted killer Dennis McGuire appeared to gasp several times Thursday after being given a lethal combination of two drugs never tried before.

McGuire's lawyers had argued that the experimental method would be cruel and unusual and tried unsuccessfully to block the execution.

Now McGuire's family plans to file a lawsuit.
