EMSA gives safety tips as dangerous heat returns

The nice break from summer temperatures is just a memory at this point and now EMSA medics are helping people stay safe outside.

Medics say the best way to stay safe if you have to be outside for work is to drink plenty of water.
“Begin drinking water well in advance from them going outside and working day in and day out.” Medic Courtney Rupe said.
You will want to try to acclimate to the heat too. Medics say that’s not something you can do on a long term basis, but it has to be done each day as you go outside.
Rupe says the best way to do that is to transition slowly.

“Stepping into the shade and just getting out of the air conditioning slowly, kind of prepping yourself to get back into the heat is the best thing to do.” Rupe added.

Make sure to check the weather conditions each day before you head out using the new KRMG app.
