Eight year old kills grandmother with shot to the head

The boy was said to be playing “Grand Theft Auto IV” minutes before he took the gun and shot and killed his grandmother and caregiver, 90 year old Marie Smothers.

At first the boy told police the shooting was an accident but the cops investigating say they believe the boy "intentionally shot Mrs. Smothers in the back of the head as she sat in her living room watching television."

WBRZ in Baton Rouge, Louisiana reports "by accounts of relatives of the victim, as well as friends of the family, the victim and the juvenile had a normal, loving, relationship."

The gun belonged to the victim and police are looking into how the boy found it before he fired the shot.

Under Louisiana law the boy can’t be charged with the crime because he is under ten years old.
