Driver knocks down three poles near 31st and Memorial exit from I-44

Three separate accidents may have been caused by the same  possible DUI driver.

Gary Kruse at the News On 6 tells us the first accident was reported at about 2 a.m. Thursday.

The caller said that a car had struck three poles on the 31st and Memorial exit from westbound I-44.

The vehicle continued on and was finally stopped near Lewis Avenue and the driver was taken into custody.

Shortly after the arrest, an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper who was responding to that call spotted an SUV that had run into one of the traffic safety cushion areas on I-44 between 41st Street and the Broken Arrow Expressway.

The driver also was placed under arrest for DUI.

At about the same time, a Tulsa police officer was almost struck by a DUI driver that was westbound on 11th Street.

The car drifted across the roadway and almost hit the eastbound police officer.

He was able to turn his patrol car around and pursue the driver.

Even though the driver's vehicle jumped the curb, it came to a stop near 11th Street and Sandusky Avenue.

Officers determined that the driver had fled from a hit and run accident moments earlier at 11th and Sheridan.

So far, all three of these DUI accidents have not resulted in any injuries.

Only the suspected DUI drivers occupied each of the cars.
