Tulsa, Okla. - The Tulsa City-County Health Department says many of the patients of the so-called "Dirty Dentist", Dr. Scott Harrington, are starting to find out whether they tested positive for Hepatitis C and HIV.
But if a person tested positive, the health department will still have to look at each case one-by-one to see how and when the person contracted a disease before the total number of results is made public.
"So although we are in the process right now of notifying patients of their test results, there's going to be a delay in between when we're notifying people and when we can release a cumulative case total," said Kaitlyn Snider with the Tulsa City-County Health Department.
She didn't have an approximate timeframe for when the total number of test results would be made public.
Harrington is accused of having unsafe and unsanitary conditions at his Tulsa dental practice and potentially exposing as many as 7,000 patients to the diseases.
Snider said the health department had tested roughly 2,500 people, and she anticipated that there would still be a significant number of people who would still be coming in to be tested.
