Defense in Zimmerman trial asking to use Trayvon Martin's text messages

The idea is for Zimmerman’s defense team to put Martin on trial instead of their client.
One message to Martin from a friend accused Martin of going down the wrong path, saying he was "turning into a lil hoodlum.” Trayvon responded quickly with "no not at all."
Martin was also shown to be prone to getting into fights. He got into it with one boy because he "snitched on me, I lost da 1st round :) but won da 2nd nd 3rd."
There was even a text that seemed like he was looking for a gun "U got heat??" And one to him from another person asking “you want a 22 revolver?"
The Miami Herald reports there were pictures on the phone of a gun and marijuana plants and a threat by his mother to throw him out of the house.
He was also called a weed head in one message and then there was the warning that seems eerie after the fact. "Boy don’t get one planted in ya chest," one person texted to him.
Martin was killed when Zimmerman shot him during a fight in their neighborhood.
A judge has to decide whether or not to allow the messages as well as other evidence such as pictures and references to marijuana use.
