Dad charged with theft for taking away daughter's cell phone

A Dallas dad, who took away his 12-year-old daughter's cell phone as punishments, had to fight a charge of misdemeanor theft.

Channel 8 in Dallas reports it all stems from an incident in 2013 when Ronald Jackson took his daughter's cell phone from her, because he says she had made some inappropriate texts.

A few hours later, he says, police showed up at his door and asked for the iPhone 4.

It was a that point that he says he wasn't going to allow police to interfere with his right to discipline his child.

The judge in the case instructed the jury to find him not guilty because she said the state had failed to provide sufficient evidence.
