Unusual might not be enough to describe the plans of Adam and Heather Barringer.
They left their home to spend several months in Hawaii where in July they plan for Heather to give birth in the water with dolphins acting as audience and support.
The couple is from South Carolina and have high expectations. "It’s total relaxation for the mother," Adam noted.
Heather is all-in as well saying “dolphins are very intelligent and healing, which in turn calms mother and baby for the whole process."
The couple will spend time getting to know a pod of dolphins before the big day comes along. That pod will be present during the birth.
But not everyone thinks this is a good idea.
Christie Wilcox writes for Discover magazine. She calls the plan "possibly the worst idea, ever" and points out dolphins can be aggressive.
On the other side of the issue is Medical Daily. They point out dolphin assisted therapy has been around for a quarter of a century with few issues.
