Christopher Lane was just out for a jog. As he ran down the street in Duncan, Oklahoma three teenagers saw him and decided to kill him, just for the fun of it.
"They saw Christopher go by, and one of them said: 'There's our target,” Duncan Police Chief Danny Ford told the Duncan Banner.
“They just wanted to see some die, or kill someone.”
Cops say a 17 year old has confessed to the crime and says a 16 year old fired the single shot that hit Lane in the back. A 15 year old is in jail as well.
Jennifer Luna of Duncan confirmed to the Banner that she is the mother of the 16 year old. “If he was involved he needs to be punished, but I do believe in my heart that he did not pull the trigger.”
Lane was an Australian native and a scholarship baseball player at East Central Oklahoma in Ada.
Lane’s father called the murder of his son "heartless and to try to understand it is a short way to insanity."
Murder charges are expected to be filed today in the case.
