Cop's son shoots, kills crook breaking into home

As the men were breaking into the home the 18 year old inside was already calling his police officer father.

"He called me and told me about it," Ken Patmon, the father and officer said. “Not long after that, two unknown suspects entered our home without permission."

Bad call on the part of the thugs.

Once the two forced their way into the home they came face to face with the young man who is headed to the Air Force Academy next year. He was armed with one his father’s guns.

Paton explained to KRTK-TV "my son, trying to defend his home and himself, he discharged my firearm, striking one of the suspects."

The young man opened fire, killing one of the intruders while the other one ran for his life.

Patmon is a 12 year veteran of the Houston PD and he confirmed his son is no stranger to guns.
"This is our home, and he's my son," Patmon began. "If I'm not there to protect him, we try to teach our children to do what's right, and I just thank God that he's OK."
Police continue looking for the second would-be robber.
