City of Tulsa website is down after someone tries to hack into the system

Perhaps you noticed problems with the City of Tulsa's website Wednesday.

We’re told the city took it down after someone tried to hack into the system.

KRMG has learned that while it appears someone was trying to access information, nothing got past the firewall and the customer information was never accessed.

“We have many servers here at the city and one being with the utility customer information and all of our financial information- that was not accessed what so ever. This was the other side which was more of the public information piece,” says Michelle Allen with the city of Tulsa.

The IT department has taken the website off-line while city employees look into what happened.

For those who were not able to pay a bill or fine today, or needed to do so to avoid late fees, should call the Customer Care Center at 918-596-9511 or visit City Hall cashiers, 175 E. 2nd Street.
