It didn't take long for officers and DHS employees to find a problem when they arrived at a house near Pine and Memorial.
They were called out to the home of Angela and Matthew Prior on a welfare check.
Tulsa police say when they opened the door, there were flies and cockroaches everywhere.
There was even a cockroach nest on the front door.
Officers found three children inside the home.
Police say they all had open sores.
DHS employees and officers continued to inspect the home and things kept getting worse.
There was feces and urine on the floor.
Officers witnessed trash and food on the floor of every room.
Police say the roaches were also crawling all over the children's bedding.
In fact, one officer noted there was thousands of flies and roaches.
The smell of the home was also an issue.
Matthew told officers he didn't understand the problem.
Police say he tried to convince them the house wasn't too bad.
Both Matthew and Angela were arrested and taken to the Tulsa County Jail.
They both face child neglect counts.
The children were taken into DHS custody.
