Child pornography charges filed against former McLoud school teacher

The former McLoud school teacher who resigned this week now faces child pornography charges.

Shawnee police arrested Kimberly Crain yesterday after photos were retrieved from her cell phone.

"The things that these children were made to do can be explained in no other way than it was a sexual interest by Miss Crain."

Pottawatomie County District Attorney Richard Smothermon also told the News On 6 that she is behind bars because investigators consider her to be a major flight risk.

Smotherman is asking for a million dollar bond for Crain.

"Until we determine the extent of the charges that she might be facing, it's important that we keep her in custody."

Crain is accused of taking inappropriate photos of juvenile female students during a Christmas pizza party at her home.

Clay Simmonds with the FBI says the feds also are investigating the case.

"Currently we are examining the computers and the other digital media that may contain images of child pornography and try to review them and see if there's any criminal charges to be filed."

Crain resigned from the McLoud school district this week after the girls told their parents that Crain made them change clothes and then took pictures of them wearing bras and panties.

Crain reportedly at one time was McLoud's "teacher of the year."
