Changes underway at I-44 and Lewis

Drivers on I-44 in Tulsa will notice some big changes the next time they drive by Lewis Ave.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation has shifted to the new pavement at the intersection.

Eastbound traffic was shifted on Sunday. Westbound traffic was shifted Monday morning.

This is the third and final phase of the I-44 widening project from Riverside Drive to Yale which began in 2009.

The entire project is expected to be finished later this year.

The westbound I-44 off-ramp to Lewis Ave. is closed until further notice. ODOT asks drivers to use Harvard Ave. for access to Lewis Avenue.

The eastbound I-44 frontage road remains closed to through traffic between Peoria Ave. and Lewis Avenue.
