Casey Anthony's attorney speaks to Bar Association

Jose Baez, the lawyer who defended Casey Anthony, will serve as keynote speaker during the upcoming Oklahoma Bar Association Annual Meeting.

Mr. Baez is best known for defending Ms. Anthony in the case of Florida vs. Casey Anthony.

His presentation, “Why Casey Anthony Was Found Not Guilty,” will take place during the OBA Annual Luncheon on Thursday, Nov. 14 at noon at the Sheraton Hotel Century Ballroom, 1 N. Broadway in Oklahoma City.

OBA President Jim Stuart chose Mr. Baez to speak after hearing his recent presentation to the Arkansas Bar Association.

“I found his speech to be thought-provoking,” said Stuart.

“He talked about his dedication to representing an unpopular client, and his professional obligation to present a vigorous defense for Ms. Anthony.

He took a courageous stance; he knew he would be criticized in light of the significant media attention the case received.

Yet he took the case, did his job despite threats and harassment and produced a successful outcome for his client.”

Baez is the principal lawyer with the Baez Law Firm of Coral Gables and Orlando, Florida.

His practice has a particular emphasis on representing clients in complex and high profile criminal and civil cases.

He is also known for representing many victims of negligence and serious crimes.

Mr. Baez serves on the Harvard Law School faculty, where he teaches trial techniques to second- and third-year law students.

He is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese and is active in various charitable endeavors in the Hispanic community.

Attorneys can register for the meeting at www.amokbar.org, or call 405-416-7000 for more information.
