Several band members at Cleveland High School are lucky to be alive, after a man crosses the center line in his vehicle and hits their bus early Saturday morning.
Police say the collision caused the bus to hit the guardrail of a bridge and almost sent the bus into a ravine.
The accident happened just after Midnight as the band was returning home from a school playoff game.
Police say the bus was just a few miles away from the school on Highway 64, when 33-year-old Joseph Chapman collided with them.
He didn't stick around to make sure everybody was okay. Police say Chapman immediately took off down the road.
The suspect did have a change of heart. Police say Chapman eventually returned to the scene to turn himself into officers.
Chapman refused a field sobriety test, but officers at the scene say he admitted to being drunk.
He faces counts of DUI, driving without insurance, and driving under suspension.
None of the students on the bus were seriously injured.
