Burger King is breaking out their version of the popular sandwich beginning May 21st. The company says it will feature boneless rib meat, sauce, and sweet pickles. Sound familiar?
The new offering is aimed straight at McDonald’s McRib.
Burger Business editor Scott Hume says there is a very simple explanation to Burger King’s challenge. "That McDonald's has been bringing back McRib for 32 years tells you it's popular and important."
Ads for the new product should be out soon with sales only going through the summer.
For their part, McDonald’s doesn’t seem to be losing any sleep over the sandwich. Danya Proud is a McDonald’s spokesperson "we know our customers love McRib and we won't disappoint them," she noted.
BK will also offer some other summer only foods. Check here to see a list of then all.
