Broken Arrow High School is making history this year by graduating more seniors than ever before.
More than 1,000 seniors will walk that stage this year. Being at the BOK Center is a first too.
For years, Broken Arrow seniors have graduated in ORU’s Mabee center, but they ran into a space issue last year. Some people had to be turned away because they ran out of room inside.
Last Decemeber, the school board voted to move the ceremony to downtown Tusla.
According to the BA Ledger, the district is paying more than $37,000 to rent the arena for an evening. But the standard going rate is about $90,000.
Solving the seating issue could cause a parking issue, but Broken Arrow already thought of that. There will be a shuttle to take people from the Broken Arrow High School to the BOK Center.
Graduation is set for Thursday May 22. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the ceremony starts at 7 p.m.
