Bridenstine to visit Ft. Sill on Saturday

Oklahoma Congressman Jim Bridenstine will be back in Oklahoma this weekend.

He will be visiting Ft. Sill to see the situation regarding the unaccompanied minor children being housed in Lawton.

Bridenstine made a previous attempt to see what was going on at the base, but was turned away.

Currently, a "tour" arranged by Health and Human Services is arranged for Saturday, July 12th.

Bridenstine's office released a letter written by Congressman Bridenstine, and sent to Sonja Nesbitt, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Legislation for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Bridenstine says in his letter:  "I am deeply troubled by the human suffering and tragic stories of the children and young people now detained...at three military bases housing Unaccompanied Alient Children ("UAC) located througout the United States."

"I am available to visit the UAC facility site within Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, on Saturday, July 12, 2014, and plan to do so.  However, it is unacceptable that any representative of the people be limited to pre-planned, showcase visits to a facility so critical to the wel-beign of children."

Bridenstine continues in his press release:  "The President has created this tragedy by failing to enforce border security.  He is going to ask Congress for $2 billion tax payer dollars, not for border security but rather to expedite the process of illegal immigration."
