Body of Claremore teen found in icy pond

UPDATE: Divers say they found the body of a missing 15-year-old about 10:30 Tuesday morning in a frozen pond in northwest Claremore.

Local police and a dive team from the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office deployed an air boat to assist divers trying to find Keith Chambers.

KRMG learned that gloves were found in the pond similar to those Chambers wore when he left his grandparents' home for a walk Sunday afternoon.

Searchers also found footprints in the snow leading up to the pond, where a hole in the ice first alerted them to a possible drowning.

KRMG is on the scene and will update this story throughout the day.

The search is on for a teenaged boy reportedly missing after breaking through ice in Claremore.

The Claremore Police Department confirms it has set up a command post and requested assistance from divers with the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office.

The search centers on an area near W. 17th Street and N. Chambers Ave, in the northwest part of Claremore not far from the Will Rogers Museum.

Police tell KRMG the 15-year-old boy was last seen about 4:00 p.m. Sunday, when he told relatives he was going for a walk.

He left his wallet and cellphone at his grandparents' house before going on the walk.

The assistant Police Chief spotted a hole in the ice on a nearby pond Monday, and that led to speculation that the boy could possibly have fallen through.

Searchers say the teen isn't a troublemaker and does not have a history of running away.

KRMG has a crew on the scene and will update this story with new information as it becomes available.
