The Oklahoma Blood Institute is holding a blood drive during the Home & Garden Expo this weekend.
OBI is in constant need of blood donors, but this weekend they’re especially trying to find a match for Joseph Newport. Joseph, 7, has Thalessemia, the most severe form of anemia, and needs transfusions every three weeks.
Joseph sometimes has allergic reactions after transfusions, so the OBI is trying to find the best matches to his blood type to avoid the issues.
Ideally, Joseph would have multiple matches so that he would have a constant supply of good blood for his frequent transfusions.
You can help by stopping by the OBI booth at the Home & Garden Expo (next to the KRMG booth on the north end) and donating blood.
Each donor will receive a FREE pint of Blue Bell ice cream, a t-shirt and zoo passes.
