Art festival in Broken Arrow to close Main Street

The ‘Chalk it Up’ festival starts Friday evening at eight o’clock and runs until midnight.

The festivities continue Saturday morning at 7 a.m. and continue until 5 p.m.

The event allows kids 6 years old and up, that means adults too, to create their own art on the streets of the Rose District with sidewalk chalk.

The event is free to attend and is open to the public.

Artists that register to compete will have sectioned-off areas on Main Street to use as their canvases. Artists can start their works Friday night and continue them Saturday morning.

Let’s hope rain doesn’t wash their work away.

The categories are:

* Animation (Adult, Youth & Kids)
* 3D (Adult, Youth & Kids)
* Masters (Adult, Youth & Kids)
* Artist Choice (Adult, Youth & Kids)
* Original Art (Adult, Youth & Kids)
* People's Choice
* Best of Show

Also, the public will have an opportunity to vote for their favorite artist and declare a winner for the People’s Choice Award.

Attendees will also enjoy live music from local bands.
