The incident comes just a week after British stuntman Mark Sutton was killed in a similar accident.
This time American daredevil Mario Richard died after hitting a cliff wall on a wingsuit jump.
Richard was a well-known base jumper and ran a school it Utah offering the experience to newcomers.
The New York Times says Richard had jumped off a mountain in the Dolomites range in Italy from nearly 10,000 feet.
His body was recovered just 450 below his point of take-off.
Richard’s wife Steph Davis, a professional rock climber, had made the jump moments before with no problems
Richard was a veteran with over 7,000 sky dives and 2,000 base jumps under his belt.
Sutton was killed last week when he clipped the edge of a cliff on a similar flight. Sutton was made famous as the man who parachuted into Olympic Stadium during the opening of the 2012 Summer Games dressed as James Bond.
