Tiawah-area resident Dione Fox was 23 years old when she disappeared nearly 20 years ago.
Investigators with the sheriff's office, Wagoner County Emergency Management, the state medical examiner's office and the University of Oklahoma Archaeological Survey are searching for Fox's remains in a 20-acre property in the Tiawah area.
The American Red Cross is also providing volunteers to assist in the effort.
"The authorities in Rogers country reached out to us and asked us to be there yesterday and of course we are there today as well," said Kurt Gwartney, senior communications director for the Eastern Oklahoma region of the American Red Cross. "We will be supporting the law enforcement and others who are involved in the searches."
Gwartney said with the heat Oklahoma is experiencing this week, being outside during the heat of the day can be dangerous.
"Basically what we do is we make sure that we support those folks, making sure they have beverages and snacks, especially on a day like today when it's so hot," Gwartney said.
