Amazon to make free movies, TV available for streaming

Amazon wants to be a major player in the multimedia marketplace, and the free services is how they plan to dive in head deep.

Some of the programming will be original to the company with other content they have the right to use.

One of the ways they plan to branch out is very creative.

The Wall Street Journal reports if a customer buys a CD by Bruce Springsteen, they may also have the right to watch "Born in the USA."

Initial cost of the service would be covered by money from page ads with the goal of signing customers up for their $99 Prime service, which includes unlimited streaming of video.

GigOm reports there may be more news down the road for Amazon. The company shelled out $1 billion last year for programming, and they seem to be on the verge of announcing their version of a "box" capable of streaming their content.

It’s thought the technology would offer video and sites such as Hulu Plus, and Netflix.

Games may also be offered which many have been excited about since the company is working on a wireless controller.
