A Tulsa Airport Authority police officer opened fire on three suspects after they tried to run him down with a pickup truck in a hotel parking lot early Thursday.
Airport spokesperson Alexis Higgins tells us two men were sitting inside a white pickup truck outside of the Hilton Garden hotel about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday and a third was nearby.
The officer approached after someone in the hotel called to report suspicious activity.
He saw the third man run into the hotel, then come back out, at which point he tried to question him, Higgins tells KRMG.
The man said he was waiting for a ride, at which point one of the other suspects put the truck into gear and drove toward the security guard, then pulled a u-turn and tried again to hit him.
The guard then opened fire on the truck, which proceeded east and north from the hotel to Airport Cargo Road, stopping where the road comes to a dead end near the airport security office.
At that point all three men bailed from the truck; one surrendered immediately, another tried to run but was caught.
The third suspect remains at large, but police indicated they have some information about his identity.
No one was injured in the incident, and no flights were affected.
