A judge ordered Holmes to wear a harness with a cable that’s locked to the floor.
Not surprisingly the defense team claims the contraption will bias the jury by making Holmes look dangerous and unstable.
Reuters reports Judge Carlos Samour Jr. was adamant about his decision saying the precaution is needed because Holmes is still considered a threat.
The restraint is said to resemble computer cables running off the side of the defense table.
Holmes, who has pleaded insanity, has worn handcuffs and other shackles in his past court appearances.
The trial is expected to last around four months and Judge Samour has decided not to sequester the jury calling it "an extremely rare procedure that's costly and difficult.”
