Ten people have been killed or injured by gun crimes at shot execution style in an apartment there. The latest violence makes some of the residents anxious to move on. “I’m ready to break my lease, so scary” Sherri told KRMG news.
But as always, there’s another side. Lance told us he isn’t concerned “I’ve lived here over three years I have friends who have lived here over three years and we’ve never had problems.”
He tols KRMG the crime is not out of the ordinary “its isolated incidents that seem to happen here more often than a whole community having an issue.”
Lance made the point that his apartment is on the other side of the property and hasn’t seen much action. Lance also told us he thinks the issues they do have are not caused by those who live at Fairmont Terrace. “The messed up part about it all is every incident that has ever happened is nobody who actually lives here.” He went on “its friends with somebody who either lives here or associates with them, it’s not the actual people who live here.”
A Kansas City company owns the complex and they promise a 25 million dollar upgrade along with new security.
But Sherri tells us it might not be enough because she finds herself having the same thought constantly. “All these killings gone on out here, you just never know when it could be you.” She paused and then finished “so scary.”
