Gurney Tourney Fundraiser with Dan Threlkeld

Hospitality House of Tulsa is proud to announce KRMG's Dan Threlkeld as the Event Chair for the 2015 Chapman Foundations Route 66 Gurney Tourney, scheduled for Saturday, June 13 at ORU – Lewis Field.

“We are so happy to have Dan Threlkeld serve as our Event Chair this year,” said Toni Moore, president and CEO of Hospitality House of Tulsa. “For many years, Dan has been a comforting source of information in keeping Oklahoma families safe during weather related storms.  Through his own recovery from medical crisis, Dan knows first-hand what families go through when faced with their own health storms. We are grateful for the hard work, support, energy and passion he brings to the Route 66 Gurney Tourney.”

The 2015 Chapman Foundations Route 66 Gurney Tourney will take place in heats, including quarter-finals, semi-finals and final race along Chapel Drive.  Teams will trick out their beds with their craziest ideas and will sport their logo wear, gear or costumes.  Registration fees are $25 per person with five people to a team.  Teams can sign up now at HHTulsa.org.  The first 20 teams to register will be provided with a bed chassis that they can decorate for their team.  Teams may also provide their own racing bed or use one of the four shared gurneys provided on race day.

Event Chair Dan Threlkeld explained his support and enthusiasm for the 2015 Chapman Foundations Route 66 Gurney Tourney.  “I support the Hospitality House of Tulsa as they reach out to those in need.  That is what we do best in our state.  During times of tornadoes, floods and natural disasters we step up, pray, and lend a hand.  We also do that during personal medical struggles.”

Annually, more than 25,000 patients travel to Tulsa for inpatient medical care, accompanied by family members and caregivers who are without financial resources for expenses such as lodging and food, especially during a lengthy medical stay.  The Hospitality House of Tulsa provides home-like lodging, meals, prayer support, health education and community support services to more than 500 families each year that travel to Tulsa in medical crisis.

“We are challenging Tulsans to get a little crazy for a great cause,” Moore said. “So, grab four of your friends, family or co-workers, fashion a ‘gurney’ bed, sport your logo wear, favorite team gear, or ridiculous costumes, and get your game face on for the Route 66 Gurney Tourney!”

Regular team registration ends June 6, but participants may still register for late entries until June 11. For more information or to get involved, call Hospitality House of Tulsa at (918) 551-6670 or visit www.HHTulsa.org.
