Full Service Ends at Interstate Gas Station
(Tulsa, OK) -- Another long time business along Interestate 44 is closing. Rick McClendon's Sinclair gas station is a casualty of the highway improvements. He says he's job hunting along with two of his employees. His mechanic has already found other work. McClendon says the price the state paid him for his property is not enough to relocate. He's kept his station full service since he opened at 51st and Utica almost 20 years ago. McClendon says the state gave him a "take it or leave it" offer with three days to decide. Plans are for six lanes along the stretch of interstate from the river to Yale. Many homes in the area have already been moved or torn down. Now, the businesses are finding other locations or, like McClendon, closing up for good.
