Irv Gordon is a proud guy.
His 1966 Volvo P1800 has just clicked over 3 million miles, a Guinness Book record.
To put that in perspective you would need to drive from New York to Los Angeles 537 times to record the same mileage.
"I never had a goal to get to 1 million, to 2 million. I just enjoyed driving and experiencing life through my Volvo," Irv said.
Irv has driven his beloved car in every state other than Hawaii and kept a few records along the way. For instance, he has stopped 800 times at Waffle Houses. The car has been driven in nine countries and has been involved in 11 accidents.
Irv told MyFoxPhilly.com his Volvo has a following all its own.
"If I stop for gas some place or I stop for a cup of coffee, people will pull up next to me and ask about the car. Before you know it, you've got new friends all over the country."
Volvo has been good to Irv, giving him a new car when his first went over the 1 million and 2 million milestones.
He’s put more than a few miles on those cars as well.
One has 460,000 miles and the other 116,000.
