John Edward Hasse is a music historian, pianist, record producer, award-winning author (the biographer of Duke Ellington), and the curator of American Music at the Smithsonian Institutes Museum of American History. This expert on 20th-century American music is the founding Executive Director of the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra and of Jazz Appreciation Month celebrated every April throughout the U.S. His Concert with Commentary will include ragtime, blues and jazz.
