Location : Renaissance Tulsa Hotel and Convention Center The South Tulsa shopping district will be flooded with ladies in pink and green, leading many to wonder Whats going on The eye-catching colors, and the ladies who will be wearing them, are a representation of one of the countrys most influential organizations: Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. As the nations first African American sorority, the organization is proud to have chosen Tulsa as the site of the 83rd Mid-Western Regional Conference. More than 600 members will spend the weekend in Tulsa. They will provide community service, host a youth summit, honor community leaders, host show-stopping entertainment events and celebrate the bond of their sisterhood... all while wearing their fabulous pink and green. We are very excited to come to Tulsa, said Mid-Western Regional Director Maggie Green. Alpha Kappa Alpha women are very recognizable wherever they go. And we enjoy using that distinction to bring attention to worthwhile causes, said Green. We are honored to serve the community in such a way, said Green, noting that AKA hosts annual conferences in each of its regions to educate members on new programs and provide service to the hosting community. The women of Alpha Kappa Alpha are proud to have a positive impact in every community we visit. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. is the oldest African American sorority in the United States with members including Coretta Scott King and Alicia Keys. Founded in 1908 on the campus of Howard University, the organization prides itself on being of Service to All Mankind.
